Privacy Policy

This policy explains the limited visitor data handled by Suffolk Residents Directory and the choices available to you. The service is a private reference to Suffolk and Virginia record resources. It does not require an account or host government records.

Details You Provide

When you enter a name, phone number, or address in a search form, the provider furnishing that result handles the search. Suffolk Residents Directory does not keep a copy of those search entries on its servers. A message sent to us supplies the contact details and content needed to reply.

Routine Technical Data

Our hosting systems may log an IP address, browser type, requested pages, and time of access. Aggregated activity helps maintain the Suffolk reference and understand how its pages perform. Cookies or comparable technology may also support basic analytics and, where applicable, advertising measurement.

How We Use Technical Data

Technical information is used to run the service, address faults, measure traffic, and improve the reference. We do not sell lists of visitors or build individual visitor profiles.

Links to Other Custodians

Some links lead to City of Suffolk offices, the Suffolk Circuit Court Clerk, Virginia agencies, library collections, archives, and search-result providers. Information submitted to an outside operator is governed by that operator's privacy policy. Requests for records held by a Suffolk city agency follow the Virginia Freedom of Information Act request process, not this policy.

Providers and Required Disclosure

Hosting and support providers process logs on our behalf. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the automatic information described above. We disclose information only when a valid legal process requires it.

Security and Retention

The service uses an encrypted connection. Logs are retained only for the purposes described in this policy. Because visitors do not create accounts here, we do not maintain account passwords or account profiles.

People Under 18

This service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Contact us if you believe a minor sent information so it can be deleted.

Virginia Privacy Choices

The Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act, Title 59.1, Chapter 53 gives qualifying consumers rights to access personal data, correct inaccuracies, delete data, obtain a portable copy, and opt out of specified processing. A controller generally has 45 days to respond and may use one 45-day extension. Since this service retains little visitor information, a request will ordinarily concern a contact message or a server log. Use the Contact page for a request. Records held by Suffolk or Virginia custodians remain under the issuing office's control.

Changes to This Policy

Any update will be posted here. Continued use after a revision is posted means you accept the updated policy.
